The era of major open knee surgeries is over. Today, we treat the most complex issues. Sports injuries Through small incisions not exceeding 5 mm using surgical arthroscopy, ensuring less pain and a faster return to the field and work.
The most common procedures we perform endoscopically
1. Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Reconstruction
When the cruciate ligament is torn, the knee becomes unstable and gives way when twisting. We do the following:
- Transplantation of a new tendon graft (often taken from the patient's own posterior knee tendons).
- The patch is fixed with melted screws or very small metal buttons that do not need to be removed.
- Immediate rehabilitation to strengthen the quadriceps muscle.
2. Treatment of meniscus
Cartilage is the "cushion" that absorbs shocks. If it tears, we do the following:
- Sewing (Repair): If the tear is in the bloody zone (Red Zone), to save the cartilage.
- Trimming: Remove the torn part only if the damage is irreparable, to prevent future bone friction.
⚡ Features of the endoscope in JOMEDIX: These procedures are considered "same-day surgeries". The patient enters in the morning and leaves in the evening walking on his own two feet (with crutches for a short period depending on the case).
Recovery and return to life
After arthroscopy, the pain is very manageable and the surgical scars are almost invisible. Physical therapy begins on the first day to mobilize the joint and prevent stiffness. Office workers can return to their jobs within a week, and athletes to the field within 6-9 months after completing rehabilitation.
