Cancer is no longer a mysterious secret. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology allows us to read tumor genes precisely, so we can figure out how to stop it.
Cancer is essentially a genetic disease.
Before we begin treatment, we must understand the truth: cancer occurs when certain genes in a cell undergo a mutation or malfunction that causes them to grow uncontrollably. Traditional treatment (chemotherapy) attacks randomly dividing cells, but it doesn't identify the underlying cause.
This is where NGS testing comes in: It is an advanced technique that performs a comprehensive scan of the tumor's DNA and RNA to detect these disease-causing mutations. Once the mutation is identified, we can use a targeted drug that completely blocks it, like a key and a lock.
